In the Classroom

My Commitment
to You

The values that give purpose to my life are my Catholic faith together with a burning desire to help the next generation, first realized through my own education when I rigorously studied environmental and economic policy. Now I want to help pass that gift of a high quality education forward to the next generation who will soon inherit our beautiful planet.

However, I have become alarmed by the intrusion of radical and divisive identity politics into our local public and Catholic school boards, which only hampers this goal. Schools are supposed to be non-partisan public institutions. We cannot begin to heal after the pandemic if our children are being continuously taught to identify primarily along tribal group lines rather than as members of the same body of Christ, and if they are being taught that their Catholic faith is something to be ashamed of rather than a wonderful gift to be celebrated and spread to everyone who wants to learn about the true meaning of life. Census data shows that many new immigrants to our area are highly religious so it’s important that the symbols we use are consistent with traditional Christian values so these deeply religious people always feel welcome in our Catholic institutions.

Along with getting the politics out of our schools and our shared Catholic values back in, I have a lot of other ideas to help public education begin to realize its full potential and stop being second class compared to private schools. Children of all backgrounds and incomes deserve the same access to high quality education and we need to be focused on a back to basics education in academic fundamentals to equip our children with the skills they need to excel in the extremely competitive international economy.

Fundamentally, I believe teachers and parents should be partners together in delivering high quality education.

I sincerely value your help and input, and I can't wait to hear from you!

Together, let's create Saints and Scholars!
